Looking at buying something similar this. John Deere - 1100 9' Field Cultivator - Cultivators - Acreage Equipment - Catalog - Ludens Inc.
Have not used any tillage equipment in about ten years and I accept forgot the rules of thumb. I know I pulled a vii' cultivator with a 4WD 47 hp tractor. Wondering if my current 95 HP 2WD tractor could handle a xv' cultivator?
I know if you lot accept the sweeps off and try to run the chisels deep it takes a ton of HP merely I don't really recollect the plow having a lot of drag with the sweeps on but it has been a long fourth dimension.

And so much depends on the weight of the tractor and soil atmospheric condition. We pulled an 18 1/ii foot fully mounted with 85 HP white and our 5000 Ford that was after market turboed. Neighbor pulled 15 1/two foot pull blazon with 4240 JD in similar soil conditions. Typically running depth around 6" on plowed basis. All of them 2WD with duals.

I don't comprehend a lot of acres agriculturally. But I take a pulltype fifteen' that I use on my M9540. It handles information technology easily, peculiarly at normal tillage depth. I remember a 3pt style would be even easier to handle because of the traction you could gain. My pull blazon is expressionless weight and does nothing to add traction.

Thanks for that link, Steve. Very adept data and cleared up a question or two that I didn't fifty-fifty know that I needed to ask.

Thanks for the replies. My tractor is heavy. It has a cab, a loader, and the rear tires are loaded. I tin can't remember the exact weight every bit information technology was several years ago when I filled them upwardly merely if I recall it was around 800 lbs of liquid per tire that was added.

Yeah, I believe you outweigh me by 1500lbs or and then. I have 675lbs of fluid per tire, plus bandage centers, plus 140lb bicycle weight per side.
